Lee Mills, Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony, will conduct the first concert of the orchestra's 2020-2021 season: Opening Night Reimagined. The concert will be streamed via the Seattle Symphony's new platform, Seattle Symphony Live, accompanied by the orchestra's first-ever drive in screening at Marymoor Park on September 19th at 7:30pm Pacific Time. Tickets for the drive in event are available for free by RSVP, and the concert will also be available to stream for free for seven days after the event through Seattle Symphony Live.
Featuring a special performance by Seattle-based vocalist and guitarist Whitney Mongé with the orchestra led by Lee Mills, this opening night concert weaves together the drama of Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture and Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony; these energetic works bookend Whitney Mongé’s own soulful songs and the soaring, beautiful orchestral suite selection Five Movements in Color: Soul of Remembrance by American composer and pianist Mary D. Watkins.
