In a recently published review of his July 14 concert in with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Star Tribune praised Lee's contagious joy for music.
"Mills encouraged widely varied dynamics, and proved a very enjoyable conductor to watch, his flamboyant cues a fine fit for this summer festival's theme of 'Music in Motion.' And for its emphasis upon making the music fun."
The program included Brazilian Fanfare by Clarice Assad, Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1, played by Jon Kimura Parker, Esboço de Psyché, by Brazilian composer Rodrigo Cicchelli, and Beethoven's Symphony no. 8.
The author Rob Hubbard praises the "deliciously delicate approach from Mills and the orchestra" in the Mendelssohn and the "crisp and punchy performance" of the Beethoven.
